Great Characters Enzo Ferrari Special Edition Giallo Modena Fountain Pen

The name Ferrari stands for aesthetic design, powerful engines, technical innovation and one of the most influential figures in automotive history. With extraordinary vision and an unbridled passion for motorsport, Enzo Ferrari led his company to unparalleled prestige, creating a legend that continues to live on. Montblanc celebrates his remarkable life and racing heritage with the Great Characters Enzo Ferrari Special Edition.

Drawing inspiration from the crest of Enzo Ferrari’s hometown of Modena and the emblematic colour of the Scuderia Ferrari logo, this edition pays tribute to Ferrari’s second soul – the colour yellow. The dates of Enzo Ferrari’s birth and his first racing victory are engraved on the cone, while his signature and the name of his father’s workshop, ‘Officina Meccanica Alfredo Ferrari’, are engraved on the cap top in reference to his birthplace.

The cap is crowned with the Montblanc emblem in precious blue resin, another tribute to the crest of Modena, and surrounded by intricate metalwork reminiscent of a vintage car grille.

Enzo Ferrari’s first victory at the Circuito del Savio also marked the beginning of the story behind the now-famous Ferrari emblem. Among the spectators that day was the family of First World War flying ace Francesco Baracca. His mother, Countess Paolina Biancoli, suggested that Enzo use the emblem of a prancing horse from her son’s aircraft on his racing cars for good luck.

Nine years later, in 1932, the Cavallino Rampante appeared on a yellow background at the Spa 24 Hours, where the Scuderia Ferrari team took first and second place. The iconic Prancing Horse is engraved on the cap of this Special Edition alongside the Countess’s words, ‘Le porterà fortuna’ – ‘It will bring you luck’.

Ferrari’s first production car, the twelve-cylinder 125 S, left the Maranello factory on 12 March 1947. This important milestone is represented by twelve engraved lines, symbolising the car’s twelve cylinders.

Enzo Ferrari’s motto, ‘You cannot describe passion, you can only live it’, decorates the ruthenium-coated clip. Completing the tribute, the solid Au 585 gold, ruthenium-coated nib is embossed with the word ‘Pilota’, one of Enzo Ferrari’s nicknames, alongside the steering wheel of the legendary Ferrari 250 GTO.
