The Gucci Horsebit Collection: An Iconic Motif
Share
Drawn from the world of equestrian sport, the ubiquitous Gucci Horsebit motif has since been transformed into a symbol of luxury, elegance, and fine Italian craftsmanship. This signature motif, refined into a double-ring-and-bar silhouette, has graced the House’s most celebrated designs for more than seven decades, appearing in pride of place on everything from loafers and handbag clasps to diamond-studded necklaces.
The House has distilled its iconic motif across a stunning collection of fine jewellery refined for the modern age. Capturing the timeless elegance of horseback riding and the storied roots of this emblem, the Gucci Horsebit jewellery collection brings this motif into a bold, contemporary expression of heritage and identity.

The Origins of the Gucci Horsebit Motif
The Horsebit motif was first sketched in a Gucci artisan's notebook in the late 1940s, drawing inspiration from the functional silhouettes found in bridles and harnesses within the equestrian world. The House held a long-standing connection to the world of horses, and the motif distilled that heritage into a single, architectural form: two rings linked by a central bar. This shape, as striking as it was sculpturally intriguing, echoed the strength and power of its equine inspiration.
Its first appearance came in 1953, on the now-legendary Horsebit 1953 Loafer. Polished and gleaming across the upper tongue of the shoe, the Horsebit swiftly became a calling card of refined Italian taste, worn by film stars, society figures, and trendsetters across the world.
The Horsebit’s evolution from leatherwork to fine jewellery mirrors the wider story of Gucci itself. During the 1970s, the motif appeared for the first time on bracelets and watches, marking the House's expansion into the world of luxury accessories. The dedicated Horsebit fine jewellery line was launched in 2004, anchoring the emblem firmly within the House's jewellery archive. Two decades on, the collection has been thoughtfully reinterpreted across a complete suite of necklaces, bracelets, and earrings, presented in 18ct yellow and white gold, with selected pieces with diamonds.
Gucci Horsebit Timepieces
Gucci Horsebit Watch on Steel Bracelet (Silver & Black Dial)
Newly released in 2026, the iconic Horsebit motif has been ingeniously reimagined here as a glamorous watch design. The dial and bezel have been shaped to evoke the distinctive, geometric architecture of the house's archival emblem, with the steel-bracelet variations further reproducing the horsebit around the entire circumference of the wrist. Upon either a black or silver vertically-brushed dial sits a clean and elegantly pared-back display, with four linear hour indexes positioned at 12, 3, 6, and 9 o'clock around two central, silver-toned hands.
Gucci Horsebit Watch on Leather Strap (Pink, Burgundy, & Black)
For those who prefer a softer, more vintage-led aesthetic, the Horsebit timepieces are also available with leather straps. Offered in three distinct colourways, this variety of choice allows for a greater expression of individual style and personality, whether your tastes trend towards a delicately feminine pink sensibility, rich reddish burgundy, or a more striking black-and-gold combination.
The pink colourway is the softest reading of the design, featuring a powder-toned leather strap paired with a polished stainless steel case and a silver dial. A burgundy corundum crown provides a small burst of colour and fun at the side of the case, echoing the deeper tones found elsewhere in the collection and maintaining easy legibility.
The burgundy is at once sleek and decisive, its rich autumnal hues adding a sense of weight and elegance to the wrist. The strap and dial are matched in a deep oxblood red, so that the polished steel horsebit and slender, silver-toned hands appear to float above a single saturated ground. Rich reds have long belonged to the House's visual vocabulary, and the depth of the shade lends this version a distinctly vintage character, recalling the equestrian leathers and saddlery from which the emblem originally came.
Bold and endlessly flattering alongside a variety of styles and skin tones, the black and gold colourway pairs a yellow, gold-plated case against a glossy black dial and matching leather strap. The contrast throws the sculpted lines of the motif into sharp relief, lending the Horsebit motif considerable presence on the wrist in spite of the compact proportions of the case. This is the most formal of the three colourways, sitting easily alongside yellow gold jewellery and evening dress, and the most striking after dark.
Gucci Horsebit Necklaces
Gucci Horsebit 18ct Yellow Gold Chain Necklace
Glamorous yet understated, this necklace presents a half-horsebit pendant suspended from a delicate 18ct yellow gold chain. Released as part of the twentieth anniversary celebration of the Horsebit jewellery line, this design distils the emblem into a softly sculpted profile that catches the light and commands attention without overwhelming the neckline. Its proportions sit comfortably for everyday wear, settling against an open collar or fine knitwear with ease, and the piece lends itself naturally to layering with other chains and pendants.
Gucci Horsebit 18ct Yellow Gold Necklace
Providing a more substantial silhouette, this necklace repeats its half-horsebit motif along the entire circumference, creating a bold, confident piece of jewellery that instinctively draws the eye and wears as the perfect statement piece. Sitting higher on the décolletage than the first necklace and less manoeuvrable due to its interlinking construction, this piece performs well as the main event – worn alongside lighter fabrics, neutral block shades, and classic tailoring that allows the jewellery to take centre stage.
Gucci Horsebit Bracelets
Gucci Horsebit 18ct Yellow Gold Chain Bracelet
This Horsebit bracelet echoes its necklace counterpart, with a half-horsebit charm anchoring a fine 18ct yellow gold chain finished with a secure clasp closure. Compact yet distinctive, it is designed to be worn alone for a softly polished finish, or layered with watches and other bracelets to build a more personal stack. The piece moves easily from desk to dinner, lending a warm gold accent to any wrist.
Gucci Horsebit 18ct Yellow Gold Bracelet
For those drawn to the Horsebit motif at full scale, this iteration is composed entirely of interlinking Horsebit motifs, each link flowing seamlessly into the next to form a sculptural chain that sits with gravitas on the wrist. Worn alone, it carries enough presence to anchor an entire look, and performs at its best paired with simple, considered tailoring or eveningwear that allows its architecture to take centre stage.
Gucci Horsebit Earrings
Horsebit 18ct White Gold Diamond Hoop Earrings
These Horsebit earrings reinterpret the emblem as a polished, mid-sized hoop, with pavé-set diamonds tracing the motif for a continuous shimmer. The compact silhouette sits comfortably against the ear and lends itself well to both daytime and evening wear – refined enough to complement workwear, yet finished enough to wear to a more formal occasion.
Gucci Horsebit 18ct White Gold Drop Diamond Earrings
For a more elongated line, these Horsebit earrings feature pavé diamonds set across two interlocking Horsebit details, suspended for gentle, ergonomic movement with each turn of the head. The drop design draws the eye downward, making them an elegant counterpoint to upswept hair, a clean neckline, or eveningwear that calls for something a little more pronounced.
Gucci Horsebit for Him
The sculptural lines and equestrian roots of the Horsebit lend themselves naturally to confident styling for both men and women, blending masculine and feminine energies to create bold statement pieces.
Gucci Horsebit 18ct Yellow Gold Charm Bracelet
This handsome piece pairs a black cotton-blend cord bracelet with a sculpted Horsebit charm, offering a robust silhouette that feels at ease whether worn alone or layered with leather strapping and a heritage timepiece. It is a natural fit for relaxed tailoring, denim, and the kind of considered everyday wardrobe where a single, confident piece does most of the work.
Gucci Horsebit 18ct Yellow Gold Bangle Bracelet
The bangle bracelet offers a different proposition: a sculpted 18ct yellow gold cuff defined by the half-horsebit motif, designed with a flex mechanism for comfortable wear and ease of use. It slips on and off without a clasp, settling smoothly against the wrist, and its clean, understated form pairs as well with a tailored shirt cuff as it does with knitwear or open-collared linen.
