Royal By Nature: The New TUDOR Royal Collection
Share
Standing apart from the rest of the Maison’s functionally oriented, tool-watch-focused oeuvre is the TUDOR Royal collection, a brand classic that combines the essence of sports chic with an elegantly refined aesthetic. First used by TUDOR in the 1950s to denote the superior quality and exquisite design of its watches, the Royal name now encompasses a sweeping collection of handsome, versatile timepieces offered in a variety of sizes and colours.
This year, the TUDOR Royal has received its most significant update since the modern collection made its debut in 2020. Unveiled at Watches & Wonders in April 2026, the new generation introduces in-house Manufacture Calibres, three newly proportioned case sizes, a sharper notched bezel, and a vibrant palette of new dial colours. Below, we look back at the story of the TUDOR Royal, explore what has changed, and introduce the new models now available at Michael Spiers.
A History of the TUDOR Royal Collection
When TUDOR first began inscribing the Royal name upon its watch dials in the 1950s, it was not reserved for a single model or collection, instead serving as a mark of distinction for pieces that demonstrated the superlative quality and design the brand wished to emphasise. These were robust, dependable everyday watches, yet they carried a dressier air that made them perfectly at home in a variety of casual and formal environments.
In 2020, TUDOR drew from these origins to revive the name in service of an entirely new collection. The modern TUDOR Royal found inspiration in the integrated-bracelet sports watches of the 1970s, pairing a metal bracelet that flows seamlessly from the case with a distinctive notched bezel of alternating polished surfaces and cut grooves. Offered in four sizes, with 14 possible dials, and powered by reliable automatic movements, the TUDOR Royal quickly established itself as one of the most accessible sport-chic watches on the market.
What truly sets the TUDOR Royal apart, however, is its character. Where other core collections such as the Black Bay, Pelagos, and Ranger are purpose-built instruments with roots in diving, exploration, and adventure, the TUDOR Royal is designed to move effortlessly between settings. Its five-link bracelet, with three wide satin-brushed links set between two slimmer polished elements, gives it a fluid, almost jewellery-like quality on the wrist. Yet, with a screw-down crown, a 316L stainless steel case, and 100 metres of water resistance, it remains every bit as practical as its more rugged stablemates.
The Next Generation of TUDOR Royal
Presented at Watches & Wonders in April 2026, the latest TUDOR Royal releases represent a comprehensive evolution of its signature style and versatile offering, expanding to encompass new sizes and dial colours. Whilst the sporty, elegant spirit of the original remains intact, almost every element has been reconsidered, refined, and updated.
Three New Sizes
The previous generation's case sizes have been replaced by three new ones: 30mm, 36mm, and 40mm, each possessing its own distinct personality. The 40mm TUDOR Royal displays both the day and the date, with the day spelled out in full at 12 o’clock. The 36mm model offers a date at 3 o’clock, while the 30mm model has a pared-back, time-only dial for a cleaner, more refined look. With case thicknesses ranging from 8.7mm to 11.4mm, there is now a TUDOR Royal to suit every wrist.
A Sharper, More Refined Design
The signature notched bezel has been redesigned with razor-sharp polished notches that catch the light beautifully and elevate the overall look of the case. TUDOR has also reworked the lugs and end links so that the bracelet no longer touches the case, helping to prevent abrasion over time.
The integrated bracelet fastens with TUDOR’s “T-fit” clasp, which lets the wearer adjust the fit quickly and tool-free. Every model comes with TUDOR’s five-year transferable guarantee.
New Dial Colours
Completing the TUDOR Royal refresh is an expanded range of dial colours, including black, blue, silver, green, light blue, ivory, salmon, burgundy, brown, champagne, and mother-of-pearl. Each is available with either applied baton hour markers or Roman numerals, and the collection is offered in stainless steel or in two-tone stainless steel and yellow gold, with diamond-set variations also available for those seeking a little extra sparkle.

TUDOR Royal 40mm
Available at Michel Spiers in a choice of either green or blue sunray-finished dials, the largest of the three new TUDOR Royal models sports applied Roman numerals, a date aperture at 3 o’clock, and the written day of the week in the 12 o’clock position. This confident and sophisticated take on the collection combines a dressier dial design with the latest in manufacture movement technology, offering a generous 70 hours of power by dint of the COSC-certified Calibre MT5633.
TUDOR Royal 36mm
The 36mm is perhaps the most versatile and universally appealing of all the new TUDOR Royal releases, able to flatter substantial wrists without swamping more delicate proportions. The current Michael Spiers offering consists of three models in black, blue, and chestnut brown, with the latter sporting a two-tone steel and gold colourway that provides an added touch of warmth.
The black-dialled model offers the most traditionally styled face with its yellow gold Roman numerals, whilst the slender applied hour indices of the other two offer a sleeker, more dynamic aesthetic. The day aperture of the 40mm model is absent, but the 36mm TUDOR Royal retains a legible yet unobtrusive date window at the 3 o’clock position, with the in-house, COSC-certified Calibre MT5412 faithfully keeping time within.
TUDOR Royal 30mm
For those with smaller proportions or those who are in search of a tastefully delicate and restrained timekeeping companion, the 30mm TUDOR Royal makes the perfect refined companion. Its soft, salmon-pink dial sings beautifully against the cool lustre of its stainless steel case and bracelet, the day and date apertures removed in favour of a pared-back face set with applied hour indices. Unlike its larger siblings, it is powered by the COSC-certified Manufacture Calibre MT5201, offering a slightly reduced 50 hours of power in exchange for an overall slimmer finish.
