Make Your Miles Matter: The St. Luke’s Midnight Walk 2026

Are you in search of the perfect outdoor event to enjoy with the whole family this summer? Look no further than the St. Luke’s Midnight Walk, which is returning to Plymouth in July to help shine a light on the incredible hospice work undertaken by the charity.

This event truly puts the ‘fun’ in fundraising, guiding walkers along one of four routes across the city beginning and ending at Plymouth Argyle’s Home Park stadium. Measuring 2.5, 5, 7.5, and 13.5 miles respectively, there is a walk to suit all ages and abilities!

Michael Spiers is honoured to be the headline sponsor of St. Luke’s Midnight Walk once more this year, helping to raise funds and provide support for vital palliative care work across the region. As a business firmly rooted in the South West, we are proud to stand behind St. Luke's and give back to the community we call home.

What is the St. Luke's Midnight Walk?

The Midnight Walk is an annual fundraising event held by St. Luke’s Hospice, a charity that provides end-of-life care to individuals and their families across Plymouth, South West Devon, and East Cornwall. Happening on the evening of Friday 10th July 2026, it will guide walkers along one of four scenic routes through Plymouth's city centre, with the 5-mile trail providing the opportunity for an exclusive first look at the upcoming Guiding Lights lighthouse sculptures.

Beginning and ending at Plymouth Argyle’s Home Park stadium in the Fan Zone, you can choose to walk whichever route you would like – all will loop around the city centre, treating walkers to stunning ocean-front views and a friendly, feel-good atmosphere. Entertainment from local performers will begin as you arrive, with warmups scheduled before all walks set off to ensure no injuries or strains spoil your evening.

Supporting St. Luke's Hospice has long been close to our hearts at Michael Spiers, and our relationship with the charity goes back many years.

How You Can Get Involved in the St. Luke’s Midnight Walk

There are many ways you can get involved with the St. Luke’s Midnight Walk, the easiest and most fun of which is signing up to take part yourself. Registration is open via the St. Luke's Hospice website, with tickets priced at £24 for walkers aged 11 and over and £12 for under-10s, making for an affordable evening out for the whole family. The Event Village opens at 7pm, with two arrival times for the walks: 7pm for the 7.5 and 13.5-mile routes, and 8pm for the 5 and 2.5-mile routes. While the registration fee covers your place on the night, walkers are encouraged to gather additional sponsorship in the lead-up to maximise the impact of their fundraising – for example, you can set up an affiliated JustGiving page to easily collect donations.

If lacing up your trainers for a late-night stroll is not for you, there are still plenty of meaningful ways to get behind the cause:

  • Sponsor a walker: backing a friend, family member, or colleague who is taking on one of the routes is a wonderful way to contribute, with every pound raised going directly towards St. Luke's Hospice care.

  • Make a donation: donations of any size can be made through the St. Luke's website, with options to give once, monthly, or in memory of a loved one.

  • Volunteer on the night: the event relies on a brilliant team of volunteers to marshal the routes, cheer walkers on, and help create the friendly atmosphere the Midnight Walk has become known for.

  • Spread the word: sharing the event with your network helps grow the community of supporters behind St. Luke's, ensuring more local families can access the care they need.

Michael Spiers at the Midnight Walk

Speaking on the importance of our Midnight Walk sponsorship, Managing Director Adam Spiers says:

"Supporting St. Luke's Hospice has long been close to our hearts at Michael Spiers, and our relationship with the charity goes back many years.

"My late father, Michael Spiers, who founded the business almost 70 years ago, spent his final weeks being cared for by the incredible team at the hospice, and the kindness, compassion, and dignity shown to him by St. Luke's have made it a privilege to support their work in his memory."

Over the years, members of our team have laced up their walking boots and taken to the streets of Plymouth alongside thousands of others, walking in memory of loved ones and in solidarity with the families St. Luke's supports day in, day out.

This year, we are proud to return as the headline sponsor of the Midnight Walk, continuing a partnership that means a great deal to everyone here. Keep an eye out for our team on the night, who will be taking part on behalf of Michael Spiers! Whether you are walking, volunteering, donating, or simply spreading the word, every contribution helps secure the future of compassionate end-of-life care for families across Plymouth, South West Devon, and East Cornwall.
