TAG Heuer Aquaracer Professional 500 Date

Diving Deeper with the TAG Heuer Aquaracer Professional 500 Date

For more than half a century, the TAG Heuer Aquaracer has been synonymous with serious aquatic adventure, combining professional-grade engineering with the architectural confidence that defines the Maison.

Released at Watches and Wonders 2026, the latest addition to the collection – the TAG Heuer Aquaracer Professional 500 Date – slots neatly into an impressively comprehensive lineup of divers’ watches: more technically capable than the 300M, it is also sleeker and less extreme than the now-discontinued Superdiver 1000M.

Bridging the gap between performance and wearability, this new release condenses the professional specifications and iconic design codes of the Aquaracer line into a robust yet versatile timepiece capable of navigating deep-sea dives as well as everyday use.

Reaching New Depths with the TAG Heuer Aquaracer Professional 500 Date

The defining headline of this release is its 500-metre water resistance rating, a significant step up from the established 300-metre standard of the core collection. This marks more than an simple capability upgrade for the Maison, filling the space between everyday wear and full technical credentials to address the needs of professional divers whilst retaining the manageable profile of its 300M siblings.

The construction of the TAG Heuer Aquaracer Professional 500 remains faithful to the modern design language of the collection through more than just its profile, however. Sporting a dodecagonal unidirectional bezel, angular architecture, and large applied markers, this release marks a steady continuation of the strong visual identity that has come to define the TAG Heuer Aquaracer line.

The TAG Heuer Aquaracer Professional 500 Date: Engineered for the Deep

Ultralight Titanium Construction

Both the case and the bracelet of the TAG Heuer Aquaracer Professional 500 Date are crafted from Grade 2 titanium, a deliberate choice in pursuit of ergonomics that delivers a tangible difference in feel. The complete watch weighs just 120 grams, compared to the core collection’s 162 grams, making it a well-equipped tool watch that wears remarkably lightly on the wrist.

Beyond the comfort gains, titanium brings exceptional corrosion resistance, an obvious advantage for a watch designed to encounter saltwater regularly. The material also finishes beautifully, with the sandblasted treatments producing a muted, contemporary lustre that resists the glare often associated with polished steel sports watches.

A Discreet Helium Escape Valve

Positioned at 10 o'clock, the Grade 2 titanium helium escape valve is an essential feature for saturation diving, allowing helium molecules to safely exit the case during decompression. The Maison has taken care to integrate the valve discreetly, preserving the clean architectural lines of the case rather than allowing it to dominate the profile. It is a refined yet unmistakable expression of the watch's professional credentials.

Built to Endure

Designed as a complete professional tool, the TAG Heuer Aquaracer Professional 500 Date is waterproof, crushproof, dustproof, and corrosion-proof. A magnified date aperture at 6 o'clock ensures legibility at a glance, whilst the unidirectional turning bezel features the first fifteen minutes defined in either blue or orange, providing the precise elapsed-time tracking that any serious diver requires. Each piece is also supplied with a backup dive light as part of its professional toolkit.

Two Dial Executions

The blue-accented edition of the TAG Heuer Aquaracer Professional 500 Date leans into the collection’s marine heritage, featuring a black gradient dial and wave pattern that evokes the image of light refracted through deep water. Rhodium-plated hour and minute hands are paired with a blue seconds hand, all coated in white Super-LumiNova® for excellent low-light legibility. This is the more traditionally maritime of the two and translates effortlessly into everyday wear, pairing comfortably with both technical attire and tailored dressing.

The orange-accented variant is the bolder and more eye-catching proposition. Presented in a sandblasted Grade 2 titanium case with a black polished ceramic bezel, it carries the assertive visual presence of a purpose-built dive instrument. The black wavy dial provides a more dramatic, monotone black backdrop, whilst orange accents inject a flash of high-visibility energy. Rhodium-plated hour, minute, and seconds hands carry white Super-LumiNova® for clarity at depth.

At the Heart of the TAG Heuer Aquaracer Professional 500 Date

Powering the TAG Heuer Aquaracer Professional 500 Date is the Calibre TH30-00, a COSC-certified automatic movement delivering a generous 70-hour power reserve. Chronometer certification confirms the precision required of a watch intended for genuine professional use, whilst the extended power reserve provides practical resilience for those who rotate between several pieces.

The TAG Heuer Aquaracer Professional 500 Date: A Collector’s Release

Both editions of the TAG Heuer Aquaracer Professional 500 Date arrive as strictly limited releases, with each variant restricted to a production run of 1,500 pieces worldwide. Turn either watch over and the exclusive caseback engravings reveal their collectible credentials: the inscriptions "Limited Edition" and "One of 1500" are accompanied by an image of a traditional diving suit, a nod to the heritage of underwater exploration that the TAG Heuer Aquaracer line continues to honour.

A Considered Addition to the TAG Heuer Aquaracer Lineup

The arrival of the TAG Heuer Aquaracer Professional 500 Date speaks to the careful curation behind the wider diving range. By introducing a model that is more capable than the 300M yet less extreme than the previous 1000M, the Maison has produced a watch that caters to the needs of the serious diver, whilst remaining wearable enough to function as a daily companion. It is a more capable instrument without the technical overreach that can render a dive watch impractical for everyday use.

As an authorised retailer of TAG Heuer, Michael Spiers would be delighted to welcome you to a showroom in Truro or Taunton to introduce you to the Aquaracer collection and our wider selection of TAG Heuer timepieces.
