Celebrating a Year of Giving

Posted on 8 January 2026

Following our 2025 in Review, we are proud to highlight our continued support for local charities and communities. At Michael Spiers, giving back to the people around us is central to who we are; supporting those in need and celebrating the people who make our local areas so wonderful. In a world that can often feel overwhelming, we believe it is the small, meaningful actions that create the greatest impact.

Supporting Local Healthcare

We are proud to partner with vital healthcare services across the South West, including St Luke’s HospiceChildren’s Hospice South WestJeremiah’s JourneyHospiscareBrain Research UK, Devon and Cornwall Cancer Fund, the Chestnut Appeal, and Multiple Sclerosis in the South West. Through these partnerships, we aim to support families as they navigate some of life’s most challenging moments.

St Luke’s Hospice in Plymouth holds a particularly special place in our hearts. The late Michael Spiers was cared for by their exceptional team of specialists, both at home and within the hospice itself. In gratitude and in his memory, we continue to support the charity in its essential work helping families when they need it most.

This year, we were pleased to once again sponsor the Midnight Walk, a fantastic event that also saw members of our team proudly take part.

Honouring Our Local Armed Forces

The South West is home to many serving and former members of the Armed Forces. In recognition of this, we have been proud to support a number of military charities and events, including The Royal Marines Charity, the Taunton Military Wives Choir, and the Coldstream Guards Association.

Our Commitment to Education

Education has been a key pillar of our community support this year. We have been proud to support a number of local schools and education-focused organisations, including NSPCC, Courtlands School PFTA, the Parents and Friends Association of Plymouth College, Marlborough Primary School, the Terry Pryor Trust Charity, Dive Project Cornwall, and Mount Tamar Special School.

Through a range of fundraising initiatives and event sponsorships, we have been able to give back to schools across the South West, helping to create positive experiences, enrich opportunities, and bring smiles to the faces of countless children.

Education, however, is not limited to the classroom or to the youth. With this belief at heart, we continued our support of the prestigious British School of Watchmaking, helping to fund a student scholarship and ensure that this remarkable craft is preserved and passed on for generations to come.

Cheering on Local Sports Teams

2025 has been a year of memorable moments for the sports teams we are proud to support. From Plymouth Argyle’s standout victory against Liverpool in February to our continued partnerships with Somerset County Cricket Club, along their T20 win, and the Exeter Chiefs, the year has delivered the full spectrum of sporting highs and lows, just as great sport should.

It has been a privilege to stand alongside these exceptional teams throughout their journeys, and we remain deeply committed to supporting our local sporting community. This includes organisations and teams such as the University of Plymouth Futsal Team, Truro College, the Devon Cricket Foundation, the Plymouth Gladiators, Devon Seniors Cricket Club, and the Cornish Pirates.

Keeping Time

Alongside this, we were proud to sponsor the Plymouth Life Centre with two new clocks to help those going for gold beat their personal bests.

Celebrating Women’s Achievements

At Michael Spiers, inclusivity is paramount to us. This commitment is reflected not only across our four showrooms, but also in the way we support our wider community. This year, we were proud to continue our support of the West Country Women’s Awards, helping to recognise and celebrate the remarkable achievements of women across a diverse range of industries and fields, as well as the Plymouth Ladies Charity Club.

Bring on 2026

2025 has been a year of remarkable achievements, not just for us, but for the communities we are so proud to be part of. I feel incredibly privileged to meet such inspiring people and to hear the powerful stories that shape our local areas in Cornwall, Devon, and Somerset.

Giving back has always been at the heart of the Michael Spiers family, because we believe our strength comes from those around us. As we look ahead to 2026, I am truly excited to continue supporting our communities and making a meaningful difference wherever we can.”
