The OMEGA Paris 2024 Bronze Gold Edition Pays Tribute To Olympic Glory

Posted on 13 August 2024

Gold, silver, and bronze medals symbolise the pinnacle of sporting achievement. In celebration of these prestigious awards, OMEGA, the Official Timekeeper of Paris 2024 has introduced a unique watch commemorating the Olympic Games.

The OMEGA Paris 2024 Bronze Gold Edition elegantly combines all three iconic materials into one collectible piece. It features a 39mm case in OMEGA’s exclusive Bronze Gold, a radiant Ag 925 silver dial, and slender hands made of 18K Sedna™ Gold with a special PVD Bronze Gold coating. This design pays homage to sporting excellence, a field in which OMEGA has been a key player on a global scale.

As the Official Timekeeper of the Olympic Games since 1932, OMEGA will be timing the event in Paris for the 31st time in its history. The brand has also been the Official Timekeeper of the Paralympic Games since 1992. The vintage aesthetic of the Paris 2024 Bronze Gold Edition is inspired by a classic OMEGA wristwatch from 1939, which housed the renowned 30T manual-winding small seconds caliber and was referenced as “CK 859” for its material and case shape. In a nod to this tradition, the Paris 2024 tribute features the engraving “BG 859” on the caseback, representing the Bronze Gold case shape.

Bronze Gold, an exclusive OMEGA alloy, is notable for its soft pink hue, exceptional corrosion resistance, and lack of verdigris oxidation. Comprising 37.5% gold, hallmarked as 9K, along with palladium and silver, it gives the watch its distinctive appearance. Additional features include the “Clous de Paris” pattern at the centre of the dial, rooted in French craftsmanship and representing meticulous and elegant decoration.

The watch also boasts a circular brushed pattern on the minute track and small seconds subdial at 6 o’clock, with the dark grey OMEGA logo in heritage style. The caseback is adorned with the “BG 859” engraving and a stamped, frosted Olympic Games Paris 2024 medallion. The watch comes with a brown calfskin leather strap featuring a sandblasted Bronze Gold buckle with a polished vintage OMEGA logo in positive relief, also found embossed on the crown.

Ensuring top-tier precision and performance, the timepiece is powered by the OMEGA Co-Axial Master Chronometer Calibre 8926, a modern homage to the vintage 30T2 movement. Each watch is accompanied by a certification card verifying that it has passed the Master Chronometer tests set by METAS (the Swiss Federal Institute of Metrology) and is presented in a unique box.
