International Pop-sensation, Taylor Swift, has announced her engagement to American NFL star, Travis Kelce, in a floral-dream instagram post on Tuesday, and her engagement ring is carving the way forward for unique rings.
After just two years of dating, the couple shared their exciting news through a gallery of images showing Travis proposing on one knee, as the couple are surrounded by pink and white flowers - Inspired by Taylor’s 2019 album ‘Lover’.

Taylor Swift's Brilliant-Cut "Old Mine" Engagement Ring
We were truly mesmerised by the eight-carat engagement ring. A brilliant-cut old mine with rounded corners, bezel-set in yellow gold with engraving on the side of the band. This unique style balances a vintage look with a modern twist.

Swift is not the first to make a statement with a bezel-set ring. Earlier this year, the red carpet saw actress Zendaya announce her engagement to Tom Holland with a button-back Jessica McCormack ring.
The ring itself fits perfectly with Miss Swift’s personal style. Ever since her ninth studio album ‘Evermore’ the singer has introduced elements of vintage style and class to her fashion and jewellery. Now, the dazzling diamond sits proudly as she enters her ‘Showgirl’ era.
The engagement comes soon after Swift’s announcement of her 12th studio album ‘The Life of a Showgirl’, releasing on October 3rd 2025.
Finding The Perfect Engagement Ring
It is obvious that Travis took the time to really ‘get the girl’, and find her the perfect engagement ring. With so much choice on precious metals, gemstones and shapes of stone, finding the perfect engagement ring for your partner is key to that ‘yes!’ moment.
When beginning to look at engagement rings, start with the basics. Precious metal, gemstone and basic cut. These three features will be able to hone in your search to ensure you can find an engagement ring that is ideal to encapsulate your love story.
It is important to familiarise yourself with the four C’s when choosing your diamond for the engagement ring: Cut, Clarity, Colour and Carat. These four C’s give you the best understanding possible about the diamond you would like, and also are the universal standard for assessing a precious stone’s quality.

The Cut of a diamond refers to the stone’s proportions, symmetry and how it reflects light, directly affecting the sparkle of the stone. The Colour of a diamond can range from D (colourless) to Z (light yellow or brown). Clarity refers to the amount of inclusions and blemish found within the diamond, and Cart refers to the weight of rarity of the stone.
Identifying your ideal four C’s can help you find the perfect stone for your engagement ring, for both overall look and size.
How Much Should You Spend on an Engagement Ring?
There is no real price for love, but it is good to estimate how much you may need to put aside for that special purchase.
It is said that Travis Kelce could have spent up to $2million for Taylor’s engagement ring. Though, the unspoken rule is that your engagement ring costs roughly three months’ salary, however, in more recent times this has been changed to one month salary to add more funds into the wedding day itself. It is completely up to you how much you are willing to spend on an engagement ring for your partner.
“Will a bigger stone have more sparkle on an engagement ring?”
Not necessarily. A bigger stone may have the capability of more sparkle, because of a higher carat weight, however the sparkle truly depends on the clarity and the cut of the diamond. A bigger diamond with a lesser clarity and cut may not sparkle as much as a slightly smaller gemstone, so when you are looking to purchase an engagement ring, be clear on what you are looking for.
“Can I buy an engagement ring if I do not know my partner’s ring size?”
It is not uncommon to not know your partner’s ring size, it is not something that particular comes up in dinner conversation, so we understand completely.
Usually, most rings can be amended to fit the wearer, however it is good to speak with with an expert to make sure this can be done. For some diamond settings, like rings with diamond shoulders, it may be harder to adjust the size as it could put diamonds at risk of becoming damaged.
“Does an engagement ring have to be a diamond?”
An engagement ring does not have to include a diamond stone. Diamonds became the most popular engagement ring stone due to their natural Mohs hardness of 9 and the iconic De Beers 1950s campaign 'Diamonds are forever', in which their love for the gemstone's brilliance and sparkle excelled its popularity.
Today, many engagement rings feature Sapphires and Rubies, as these two precious gemstones have a Mohs hardness of 9.
