This exquisite timepiece pays homage to the precision clocks that were used to display the exact time in watchmaking workshops and astronomical observatories. Encased in 40.5 mm rose gold, the Ref. 5235/50R boasts a two-tone graphite and ebony black dial. The dial is a study in perfect symmetry, featuring a sweep minute hand, a subsidiary hour dial at 12 o'clock, and a seconds sub-dial at 6 o'clock. The annual calendar function is elegantly displayed through three large apertures for day, month, and date.
This original design is reminiscent of the old regulators. The elegant dial features three railway-track scales, one each for the main dial and the subsidiary hour and seconds dials. The Annual Calendar displays the day, the month and the date in three generous apertures, automatically taking account of months of 30 and 31 days. Adjustment of the calendar is a simple process via pushers on the side of the case, done once a year at the end of February.
Powering the timepiece is the automatic self-winding Patek Philippe ultra-thin caliber 31-260 REG QA. The movement is rhodium plated and stamped with the Patek Philippe quality seal. It’s exquisitely finished and has a unique architecture due to the regulator style movement, which can be observed through the display caseback.
The Ref. 5235/50R-001 in rose gold is worn on a hand-stitched alligator strap with large square scales, the matte black colour complements the dial. The Patek Philippe Annual Calendar Regulator Ref. 5235/50R stands as a testament to the brand's commitment to innovation while honouring horological traditions. With its ground breaking components, and perfect blend of regulator style and annual calendar functionality, this timepiece is a symbol of Patek Philippe's ability to push boundaries and redefine watchmaking excellence.
